A walk down Memory Lane!
Here are some news clippings from October 1962 Ocala Star Banner ...
How expensive was it to eat out back then, look at this ad from Morrison's ... Looks like 2 people could eat out, have dessert, and include the tip for under $2 ...
After that, you could take a carload of your friends to the movies for $1.20, add another 50 cents for popcorn and you are still under $2.00 again. Of course gas was a consideration. We used to drive to Belleview and take advantage of the continual gas price wars and buy 10 gallons for $1.80 (of course everyone would chip in).
We didn't have a large selection of TV programs to watch, so TV wasn't really a big part of our lives back then. We were too busy buying 75 cent hamburgers (with fries) at the Big "D" ... another 15 cents got you a coke ...
Things were a bit more economical back then!
