Sad News, Two More Classmates Lost

Beverly Arnold died on February 18th

Dale Bragdon was a HAM radio operator and a cat lover all his life beginning in his high school years.  He attended Daytona Beach C. C. and Univ. of Fla. and worked as an electronics technician until his retirement due to health reasons.  He always had a few cats around and wanted to see the world go the right way for both people and animals.  With his dry sense of humor, he and I always had some good laughs about growing up together in the 1950s and 1960s, loving cats and watching them do funny things.

     Dale lived in several states, including North CarolinaFlorida, and New Mexico.  He passed away on Dec. 19, 2009 in Las Cruces, NM, after a long illness.  He is survived by two daughters, Angel and Michelle, his sister, Diana (me), and 5 grandchildren.  We all miss him a lot.

     Brian, I'm glad he was your friend in high school.  He always had a lot of friends, especially HAMs, for most of his life.
                                                                                                                                Sincerely,
                                                                                                                                Diana (Bragdon) Newman

===============================================================================

Sadly, we are starting to lose classmates more frequently now, and we need to honor them somehow. In Dale's case, In January, I received an email telling that he had died back in November, but I've been waiting for his sister to provide some biographical information that I could post with his notice. My thought is that rather than just sticking a photo from the class annual of our lost classmates, like I've done here, I feel that knowing a few details about what Dale and Beverly did after leaving high school would cause us not only to dwell on the person we knew almost 50 years ago, but about them and the paths they chose through life.

I am requesting that all classmates provide a short concise biography, and a recent photo that we can add to the OHS1962.com website. I am presently revising the website and it should be back on the internet by early March. So, start thinking about what you will put in your bio and send along with a recent flattering photo to me ... bvoge@me.com ...

On a personal note, the class of 1961 is becoming very active, Tom Brennan and Pat McKeown are making a very attractive website (OHS1961.com), and as a class they are regularly outnumbering us at Gator Joe's, and it's just not right !! ... End of personal rant ...
