Mrs. Barge's Class - 1956_?

Buster Greene sent me this photo of what he thought was Mrs. Barge's Class in 1956 ... he received the photo from his brother Bobby, who received it from Billy Vosburgh's brother. Anyone know these people? I think I spotted Jimmy Clarke, Johnny Green, Al Peacock, Sully Sullivan, and Meta Jane in the crowd. That may be Buster on the front row.

Johnny Green just sent an email with the following information:
The picture on the Class blog page entitled "Mrs. Barge's Class" brings back memories. We called her "Suzi Q." but not to her face. In the picture I recognize:

1st row: Glen Pope, Buster Greene, Marion Mann, Meta Jane Thomas and am not sure of the rest.
2nd row: Jim Clarke, Cheryl Ackley, Judy Aylward(?, Carol Brakefield (?) and Penny Young.
3rd row: Dale Hulie (?), Bob Frederick, Louise Johnson and Sully Sullivan
4th row: John Green, Kathy Donnally
5th row: Jimmy Clark, Al Peacock
6th row: ?

OHS Class of 62 FLOWER FUND

Several days ago I suggested that we as a class establish a fund that would pay for flowers for sick or injured classmates and for funerals. This would provide assurance that classmates receive flowers, rather then depending on ad hoc groups to collect money and purchase and send flowers.
___________________________________________________

Since then, I have received many responses that made sense:

  • A fund to send flowers or donation to specified charity, hospice or such is a good idea. Does it need to be so legalized? Can't a committee of 3-5 alumni oversee it? Either way I'm in. - Betty (Mather) Marchinton
  • I love the idea of a bereavement fund.....I think flowers or contributions to charities would only be appropriate for funerals. A "Get Well" card to anyone sick or injured would be nice. - Betty (Enlow) Phillips
  • I will be glad to contribute to such a fund for flowers. How thoughtful and kind of you!. - Mary Old-Kooi
  • I think flowers are a terrible waste and kinda meaningless. Why not set up some sort of charitable fund, one we might all agree upon? or is it possible to create a scholarship fund? Anything that perpetuates someone's memory and not just dies off after a couple days. Just a thought. I reckon we are all reaching the time when these kinds of conversations are necessary, unfortunately. Feel so bad about Paul Turner. - Jim Huber
  • Unless you were expecting to have a substantial amount of money continuously coming in as would justify an endowment, merely putting money in an interest bearing trust account would seem to make more sense. However, with interest rates as low as they are, I cannot imagine that you would be able to accumulate enough to support paying for flowers strictly from earnings. I think the idea is good as it would certainly be meaningful to receive something from our class, but a lot of effort would continuously have to be expended to keep securing enough donations to keep the program viable. - John Green

Paul Turner Memorial -

It's hard to prepare ourselves for news like this, when we lose a friend from high school. We know in our hearts that we will be seeing this type of news more and more as we all age, but it doesn't make it easier. This comes so close after losing Bobby Williams, and then Lloyd Adams.

Occasions like our 65th birthday party are becoming more important now, as each one may be the last time we see a dear friend from High School. Say a prayer for Paul and his family at this sad time in their lives.

OHS 1962 Birthday Bash "THE MOVIE"

Classmates:

Here is a link (click on the title above or at the page bottom) to an exciting movie that will capture your heart; stir your emotions; tickle your funny bone; bring on waves of nostalgia; and a tear to your eye.

The critics loved it! The "New Yuck Times" rated it as "one of the best films of the century." Those famous film critics "Nelson and Bullock" gave the a 5 thumbs up (not sure which one has that extra thumb). And the "Sundunce Film festival" critics claim that Michael Ayer may be the director of the year and heading for his first Sesame Street Oscar.

Next stop is the "Canes Film Festival." Groupies are starting to gather in the Little Lake Weir vacinity, the paparazzi are in the bushes ... See it here first, it will only be available for a limited time ...

NOTE: This movie will take a long time to download (I'm talking 10 to 20 minutes), so just click on the link and get it started ... resist the urge to immediately hit the play button ... let it download for a while (depends on your connection speed) ... then, when it is all downloaded, hit the play button ... otherwise, you'll catch up with the download and the movie will pause and start and pause and start ... well, you get the picture ...

SO ... HERE IT IS ... OHS 1962 Birthday Bash "THE MOVIE"
